10 signs that summer is almost here

Spring is almost behind us and here's how we know...

1. High heels have disappeared and the racks are heaving with sandals. We love the flats that free our feet but please don't take our stilettos away!
2. You walk down the street consumed with paranoia that the back of your legs are streak-tastic from the fake tan. It's been almost a year, it's not your fault you've forgotten how to apply it...
3. Men are smiling approximately 67% more. Apparently there's a proven link between bare legs and smiling men.


4. You discover new uses for those 38 pairs of black tights you have - namely as a bird feeder and a jewellery holder.
5. The shops are full of tiny vests with tiny straps that seem to shrink every year. You buy eight.
6. It's raining outside. It's 10 degrees. You still decide it's definitely not 'coat weather'.
7. You open the 'tiny clothes' draw you pack away your summer clothes into every October and spend two hours pulling out items exclaiming, "I would surely have never worn that" and "That's not a skirt, it's a belt"!t
8. You're so over-whelmed by the huge swimwear departments in shops that you buy four bikinis and three swimsuits. Two of which you then discover don't fit you. When questioned you claim: "Well you never know when you might need them!"
9. Sunglasses become a permanent facial fixture between the hours of 8am and 8pm. And oh my goodness, they cover a multitude of sins! Hoorah!
10. Drinking Pinot Grigio over lunch is not frowned upon - it's "civilised". Yes, even by glass four.
