The Kids Are Back At School - So Pamper Yourself!

If the summer holidays were more testing than tranquil for you, treat yourself now that the kids are back at school


Whether you've had little ones, teenagers or grandchildren to look after during the summer break, one thing's for sure - you could probably do with some time for yourself! It can be exhausting to look after kids through the summer break - having to keep them entertained, stimulated and having to referee the in-fighting! Milk Bath

Now that the house has (hopefully) returned to its normal peaceful state, be decadent and run yourself a luxury bath in the afternoon. You could pour in some herbal salts or bubble bath, but why not be extravagant and have a milk bath? Add three cups of milk to your bath, plus a handful of oats, and come out with skin that's never felt softer!

Essential Manicure

Summer holidays often mean wiping things up, removing mud from boots and making sure the house stays vaguely clean - all things that can leave your hands dry and battered. Make friends with them with a home manicure. Moisturise your nails with olive oil before rinsing and painting in a milky white. Apply a rich hand cream at least twice a day and they'll be back on track in no time.

Facial Spa

You don't have to spend a fortune on a facial - do you own at home! Buy a small bottle of tea tree oil and add a few drops of it to a bowl of boiled water. After thoroughly cleansing your face, lean over the water with a towel over your head and steam for 5 minutes.

Treating yourself with food should mean much more than ordering a Chinese - listen to your body and pamper yourself with luxury foods that are actually good for you, like asparagus, steak, smoked salmon and berries. Enjoy the peace and quiet by drawing the curtains, lighting some candles and piling some cushions on the floor. Then play some soothing music and spend ten to twenty minutes sitting down and focussing on clearing your mind. It should leave you feeling energised, refreshed and calm - and who doesn't want that!
